Child's Garden of Verses
My Aunts this morning reminded me of the book A Child's Garden of Verses, that their mother read to them, and my grandmother read to me as a child. Robert Lewis Stevenson was an amazing poet and these poems are so fun! I am so thankful my Grandmother took the time to read these to me and I will forever have fond memories in my heart of her:)
So here's a poem that inspired me this morning from that book!
The Swing
So here's a poem that inspired me this morning from that book!
This is the book I had at my house when i was growing up! |
The Swing
How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
River and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside--
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown--
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
River and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside--
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown--
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!

Season whole black beans with paprika and chili powder, add chopped tomato, onion and fresh cilantro if you wish. Heat
Sautee some of Sarah's garden fresh kale (the dinosaur is great) in a tiny bit of olive oil, and a bunch of garlic. Once wilted, squirt on some lemon juice and a spray or two of brags...
Toast either corn or flour tortilla on the flame, turning regularly.

Garden 101 for the keiki
This is what we are growing:) |
Today was a great day. Eamon stayed home sick, but not too sick, from school. I had them come out to help me in the garden. We got inspired to grow sunflowers because of book we checked out from the library. Its called The Sunflower House, so we are going to attempt to make one!
If today recreates itself throughout the summer, we are going to have so much fun! It's days like today that I feel like I really am a great mother, wife, and human being. I've been inspired..... So here's so photos:)
