Child's Garden of Verses

My Aunts this morning reminded me of the book A Child's Garden of Verses, that their mother read to them, and my grandmother read to me as a child.  Robert Lewis Stevenson was an amazing poet and these poems are so fun!  I am so thankful my Grandmother took the time to read these to me and I will forever have fond memories in my heart of her:)
So here's a poem that inspired me this morning from that book!
This is the book I had at my house
when i was growing up!

 The Swing

How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
     Ever a child can do!

Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
River and trees and cattle and all
     Over the countryside--

Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown--
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!

Sautee some of Sarah's garden fresh kale (the dinosaur is great) in a tiny bit of olive oil, and a bunch of garlic. Once wilted, squirt on some lemon juice and a spray or two of brags...
Toast either corn or flour tortilla on the flame, turning regularly.
Layer the tortilla with a scoop of beans, some kale, and a scoop of fresh salsa. MMMM, super good.

Garden 101 for the keiki

This is what we are growing:)

Today was a great day.  Eamon stayed home sick, but not too sick, from school.  I had them come out to help me in the garden.  We got inspired to grow sunflowers because of  book we checked out from the library.  Its called The Sunflower House, so we are going to attempt to make one!

If today recreates itself throughout the summer, we are going to have so much fun!  It's days like today that I feel like I really am a great mother, wife, and human being.  I've been inspired.....  So here's so photos:)

May 15th and the Sun is out!

Early mornig sunrise garden adventures are my favorite.  A hot cup of coffee and the looming beauty of the garden draws me out of bed every morning.
The rain has finally let up for the past few days and the sun is shining, my garden really needed it.   I have been out of school for almost a week and have been waiting for the sun to do some major garden work.  That will be my focus this next week, pictures to follow.  Here are some from the garden and other freshness from Hawaii!

Some fresh eggs from our friends!

Cilantro pot, one of my favorites in the garden.

Japanese eggplant, ready for a space in the garden.

Japanese cucumbers!

Some many beautiful yellow flowers on the cucumber trellis.

And of course, I love orchids and have about 30 plants.  This one is on the way into my house on the deck, So beautiful!

"Acknowledging all the good that is already in your life is the foundation for all abundance.  See the fullness of life all around you.  The warmth of the sun, the magnificent flowers, succulent fruits and vegetables, or the water falling from the sky.  The fullness of life is there at every step."

My garden is growing bigger everyday!  The kids and  really enjoy watching the vegetables produce dinner:)  From seed to plate, my kids play an important role in helping and watching the progress.  We can now eat out of our garden about 3 days per week.  We are shooting for a meal each day.
